How to Determine if a Site is Selling Authentic Designer Handbags
Author: Asa Noorian
Many websites on the internet sell handbags. Many of them claim they are authentic, some don't exactly say authentic but trick you into thinking replicas are authentic. In reality, it takes a smart shopper to determine which sites can be trusted. Many of the sites do indeed sell authentic handbags at discounted prices, and you shouldn't let a few bad apples ruin your chance at scoring a bargain. Just do your due diligence and you will come out on top -- and with a beautiful handbag that you paid only a fraction of what your girlfriends paid for it.

Here are some simple tips to help you determine whether the site is selling authentic handbags:

1. Guarantee: A web site selling authentic hand bags will always have an authenticity guarantee: Authentic or your money back. For example, at www.LuxEurope.com, there is an authenticity guarantee not once, but 4 times on just the front page. If there isn't one, you should be concerned.

2. Quality: If a website is claiming that their bags are "high quality", then this may be a cause for concern. Designer brand name handbags have a brand for a reason -- the brand speaks for the quality, and it's constant throughout. They may be talking about good quality knockoffs. However, this is not a dealbreaker... it may just be a store owner's mistake.

3. Chinese connections: Chinese companies usually sell fakes. Try going to a WHOIS service (http://www.whois.sc) and enter the domain name. If it's registered to a Chinese company you should be concerned. This is not to say that the Chinese are illegitimate businessmen, but rather, there is less enforcement in China and more availability of fakes.

4. Contact: Any trustworthy web site will list a street address. If a web site does not list a street address or phone number, you should not do business with them. This applies to any online shopping site.

6. Return policy: Stay away from web sites that will not take returns.

There is not one simple formula to determine if the handbags are authentic. It's a matter of your own personal judgment. You should not be afraid of shopping for handbags online because of this. Don't let low prices scare you away -- they can indeed be bought for 70% off retail. However, apply your own judgment and make sure you can contact the company and return the bag should you desire to do so. Read the descriptions, company information, etc. -- don't just look at pictures. If you are confident after viewing all these things, then you should enjoy your purchase and get out there and show off your new authentic handbag!

The Difference Between "Counterfeit Handbags" and "Inspired By" Handbags
Author: ken sharp
Having a handbag is great, but you need to know weather you bought a counterfeit handbag or an inispired by handbag. Getting the originals do cost a lot of money. Lous Vuitton's can range anyhwere from $500 to over $1,000. We all want to save money sometimes, but don't fall prey to counterfeit handbags. It's o.k to buy inspired by handbags, but it is completely illegal for people to buy or sell counterfeit handbags.

Counterfeit handbags are a growing industry. The theif who make these are making tons of money. There is also evidence that the orginizations who make counterfeit handbags are funding terrorist activities.

A counterfeit handbag is an exact copy to the original (or at least as exact as the counterfeiters can get). These handbags are made of inferior products, like cheap leather and poor craftmanship. These handbags also have original "looking" tags, bags and logos.

Of course the counterfeiters try to pawn these handbags off as originals, but beware! Always do your homework before buying a handbag. You need to know exactly what you are buying. There are a few things you need to know before you lay down your money for that handbag.

Look at the stitching. An original handbag will have perfect stitching and the material on that handbag will be aligned right. Sometimes a counterfeit hanbag will have crooked material and loose stitching. The feet an an original handbag are in excellent condition, while the counterfeit may have poor quality feet, or crooked feet. The straps on an original are in perfectd shape, while the straps on a counterfeit handbag might be loose where it connects to the bag. The clasps on an original will be in perfect working order and pay special attention to detail here, look for the logo on the clasps. The logo should be exactly how the original displays their logo, if there is any difference, the bag is certainly a counterfeit.

The original handbag goes through extensive inspections and testing. They look for quality of craftmanship and durability. If a handbag doesn't meet up with their criteria, they wont let it into the public.

An "inspired by" handbag is o.k to buy or sell, because it doesnt have any logo's, tags or anything esle that might have the original handbags trademarks. An "inspired by" handbag will just look somewhat like the original, but not exact. Buying and "inspired by" handbag is a great way to take part in a fashion trend, without spending tons of money.

Beaded Handbags Craze
Author: Nguek-Fluek Nguang
A beaded handbag can make a great accent piece to your outfit. They range from small, seed bead covered clutches to handbags made of larger beads that are perhaps a carryall, so you can match your party outfit with a black beaded clutch, or try a larger beaded handbag for your day in shorts and flip-flops at the beach.

Beaded handbags can be bought at many bag and purse stores, as well as occasionally be found at accessories stores. Or you can go hunting for one at craft fairs and crafters' stores. You could even get a fun beaded handbag custom made for you by a bead crafter.

Beaded handbags, earrings, bracelets and other accessories can be fun and trendy accent pieces for anyone. Why not make yours even trendier by making it yourself? You can try to make your own style of bead handbag with a bead loom and some beads. These make fun accessories for yourself and great gifts for friends.

You can get a bead loom at many bead stores, as well as picking out the beads for the project. You'll want a lot of beads that are the same size and type – use different color patterns to make your design.

You can find patterns for how to make your bead handbag on the internet, or there are many books available on beading. Your bead loom can also be used to make bead bracelets and necklaces, which you could coordinate with your handbags.

You can also take an ordinary handbag and bead it for a fun beaded look. Use the beads to sew a design onto the fabric, for a fresh new look for an older, boring bag. Or take a look online to see the beaded handbags and wallets available for purchase.

There are many beaded handbag designers on the internet, with styles ranging from the funky and fun handbag for a party girl to more elegant editions for more formal events. You can carry a beaded handbag to a formal or semi formal event to add a bit of your personality to your outfit. There are even beaded crocheted handbags available, which add another level of texture to a beaded handbag.

Beaded handbags can be works o art. If you like Native American art, why not try out a Native American beaded bag? This gives your outfit some culture and shows off your style.

Use a beaded handbag to add some fun and personality to your purse collection. You'll look trendy while exuding your own personal sense of style.

Trendsetting Handbag Designers
Author: Cathy Feldman
The popularity of designer handbags is at an all-time high. Everywhere we look, from the high street to the nightclub, everyone is carrying a trendy new purse. It seems that we are often so preoccupied with our new handbags that we tend to forget about the people behind the designs. I started trying to develop a shortlist of my favorite designers, but I realized that I am in love with the work of far too many to list. The following are just a few of my favorites.

Chloe is, by far, one the greatest design houses in the world. I absolutely love their work! At times, I feel that some of the French designers are a little over the top…but where would true fashion be without their sense of creativity and innovation. Chloe has been a leader in the world of fashion, especially since the Stella McCartney assumed the helm. Her star power and understanding of classic design reinvigorated a company that was often lacking the cohesive aesthetic that truly binds a collection together. Make no mistake about it…Chloe is the new Gucci!

Vivienne Westwood has done more for British design that any other designer in modern times. In many ways, the entire punk genre owes her a debt of allegiance. Vivienne was just a young girl during the heyday of punk, when she met a fellow named Malcolm McLaren. For those of you not particularly well versed in your punk rock history, Malcolm was the manager of the consummate British punk band – The Sex Pistols. After dressing the Pistols for a number of years, she opened her own shop in London called Sex Boutique. Punks worldwide have adopted her design aesthetic, and the rest is history.

Monica Botkier is yet another brilliant designer. Her designs are held in high esteem by women all around the world. After spending the early part of her career as a fashion photographer, Monica Botkier has certainly spent enough time in the fashion world to know what constitutes a great handbag. She is able to strike the perfect balance between function and form, and her designs are some of the most sought after with fashionistas everywhere. Monica Botkier's designs are famous for their detailing, hardware, and innate sophistication.

Online Shopping Tips - Purses & Accessories
Author: Felice Azorsky
Having trouble looking for that unique and different handbag? Or, maybe you're looking for a purse that isn't in the local stores and boutiques yet? Then you should try searching online! Gone are the days when women had to go to the mall to choose from limited supplies. It is the age of the internet, and anything and everything can be found online. It's easy and accessible, and with one click of a button, hundreds or even thousands of options become available to you.

Now you can go shop for the current "must-have" bag, or something quite different and unique, like customized handbags such as photo purses. If you decide to go online to shop, you must understand that there are a few risks involved. Only deal with reputable stores or sources with credentials, preferably those stores that have secure payment processors like Verisign or Authorize.net. A liberal return policy & a phone number to reach customer service would be another thing to look for. Giving them a call to ask around for details first would be a very good idea.

If you're in the market for a designer bag, learn to spot fakes and cheap knock-offs. A few tips on how to spot fakes online would be if the price is too good to be true, or the seller is on an auction site and they have a ton to sell. If you do order it, know that designer handbags will often have some extra stitching or small marks that will distinguish it from fakes. Look for the custom label or logo of a designer purse or handbag, and check if they are misplaced or misspelled. Another thing to keep in mind whenever you are shopping would be to compare prices. It never hurts to do a search for the stores name to see if there are any previous customers complaining about the vendor.

Yes there is a slight risk involved in online shopping, but the benefits would far outweigh them. Once you learn to look for bargains and spot fakes, you're on your way to many great deals and purchases. In today's world of mass production of purses and fashion accessories, going online to shop is one way to distinguish yourself from looking like everyone else. So go online today and shop with confidence.

Designer Handbags and Discount Shopping
Author: Bag Lady
Everyone wants brand name accessories, especially in the trendy fashion circles. Many of us have been tempted to buy one of those Louis Vuitton replicas, but we surely wouldn't want to be seen carrying it around. I think you all know my stance on replicas and knock-offs. In my little world, they are simply unacceptable. Fashion is my life, and the market in replicas undermines the stability of the industry I have grown to love.

For the price conscious shopper, there are other alternatives available. A number of the major department stores have started to carry designer accessories and handbags, at greatly discounted prices. While there are some that believe that high fashion is the exclusive domain of the wealthy, it is my opinion that fashion should unite and not divide. The love of fashion can and will continue to bring people of common interest together.

I recently went upstate for a weekend to visit some friends and family, and I was thrilled to discover a factory outlet for Coach. I picked up three amazing handbags at very reasonable prices, and I intend to go back sometime soon. To be honest, I was amazed to see a company like Coach with a discount outlet. I have spent countless hours exploring their flagship store on Madison Avenue, and from I could tell the outlet store had almost the exact same inventory. At discounted prices, no less!

Upon returning home, I did some research on sales figures for Coach. It turns out that the discount outlet I had just visited earns almost as much revenue as the flagship store in NYC. In 2005 this particular outlet store earned over 20 million dollars, and they are projecting earnings over 25 million for the current year! These are astounding figures, in my humble opinion. Why aren't other designers pursuing the discount market?

My feeling is that is has a lot to do with the elitist attitudes that pervade the fashion industry. There is a strong feeling, in fashion circles, that discount stores dilute the luxury image that so many designers are trying to cultivate. While there may be some credence to this argument, I am of the opinion that fashion is for the people. I would love to see more companies taking the approach that Coach is taking. Purses for the People, I say!

Tips For Buying An Italian Handbag
Author: Gray Rollins -
If you could bring home one piece of clothing or accessory made in Italy, you may want to choose an Italian handbag. While this year's dress is next year's rag, a quality handbag will literally look stylish for decades.

Of course, many people take one look at the cost of the better Italian handbags and decide that these bags are simply too expensive. However, if you think about how many times you will be using that handbag over the next ten years and then divide the price of the handbag by that number, you may be surprised to find that a good handbag is actually a better deal than most other pieces of clothing. After all, if you buy a ten dollar shirt because it is on sale and only wear it twice, it costs you five dollars for each use. A one hundred dollar handbag that you use thirty times only costs you about three dollars for each use. Most people use a good handbag several hundred times a year.

Although Italian handbags come in a range of prices, a top quality calf leather handbag can cost as much as four or five hundred dollars; and even several thousand dollars if it's from a well-known designer. Although you may not be able to tell the supple soft calf leather bag from a less expensive bag made with cowhide by looking at the bags, you can certainly feel the difference. Calf leather is smooth and flexible.

If you can't afford a good leather Italian handbag, there are some other choices. The same care and craftsmanship that makes leather handbags so popular goes into the construction of Italian bags made with canvas or fabric. Just be prepared for a fabric bag to wear out sooner than the leather handbags.

Finally, be sure you do not buy a handbag that looks like a quality Italian handbag at first glance, but actually turns out to be a knockoff. If the handbag you are considering is supposed to be leather, unzip it and take a look at the inside to see if you can find some uncovered edges. Leather edges look different than those made with vinyl or other man made materials. The best way to be sure you are purchasing a quality Italian handbag is to only purchase from reputable sources.

The World According to Designer Handbags 101
Author: Bag Lady
There's a new kid on the block in the wonderful, wacky world of designer handbags. In case you haven't heard, World According to Jess is taking the fashion accessories industry by storm. But don't let the amateurish name fool you, this design house is taking no prisoners! In a relatively short period of time, this company has achieved immense respect and credibility in the industry. Jessica Alpert-Goldman, namesake and owner of World According to Jess, has firmly entrenched herself in an industry that is not always kind to outsiders.

The designs are bold, quirky, and cute…much like Jess herself. With an impressive catalogue of designs, and the support of her ever-growing legion of fans, 2006 may just be the year of Jess. Without a doubt, she is off to a smashing start. Her bags have already been photographed with famous fashionistas like Beyonce Knowles, Sarah Jessica-Parker, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Lindsey Lohan.

Just recently, Jess had her remarkable designs included in the celebrity grab-bag backstage at the Oscars. This is, by all means, no small feat. Every major company in every significant niche wants their product included in the Oscar gift bag. The mere act of having your product photographed with major Hollywood stars is a guarantee for overnight success but Jess is already well ahead of the game, in that regard.

Jess contributed 250 of her favorite purses to the Oscar cause, and she hasn't looked back. In her own words, "I worked hard to let the world know that World According to Jess was the only bag designer included in the official Oscar gift bag." For her efforts, she received countless press accolades and ended up with placements on some of the biggest television programs in America, including The Today Show.

World According to Jess has fun, funky handbags in countless shapes and sizes. Evening bags, cosmetic bags, wallets, diaper bags, travel bags…it appears that Jess has covered all of the bases. Some of my personal favorites include the smashing Arthack and the oh-so-hot Scandalous designs. If these designs are any indication of things to come, World According to Jess is going to be more like world domination. Ciao, Darlings!

The World of Gucci Handbags
Author: ken sharp
Guccio Gucci started his luggage and saddle company in the year 1921, in Florence, then created another company a little later in Via Condotti, Rome. Little did he, or anyone else for that matter, that the name Gucci would be adored and sought after from everyplace on the globe. Everybody loves Gucci handbags. They love these handbags for their wonderful designs and superb quality in craftmanship.

In 1947, Guccio Gucci created and released a breakthrough handbag that would swarm the country with a unique and popular fashion statement. This handbag was the first of its kind to feature a beautiful bamboo handle and was adored by many who purchased it. This handbag was made out of striped webbing from saddle girth. Following this remarkable hit, Guccio Gucci made a valiant return to the fashion industry a few years later, introducing the moccasin handbag. As Guccio Gucci opened his first store in New York in 1953, his company has gained the respect of many throughout the fashion industry and the world. Unfortunately, Guccio Gucci died on this year, just when his company was about to take over the United States fashion industry, creating millions more of adoring Gucci fans.

Louis Vuitton Handbags-The Beginning
Author: ken sharp
In the early 1800's, Louis Vuitton began as a luggage packer for the rich Parisian families. He learned his trade well and with some intuitive ideas and a lot of hard work, decided to try his hand at designing his own luggage. His luggage was specifically designed to fit perfectly, while being stacked, in luggage cars. Louis Vuitton created his own company in the year 1854.

Louis Vuitton designed his luggage with such wonderful style and the craftsmanship was superb, that many people took to his luggage and his business started to boom. Even as early as 1854, Louis Vuitton had to deal with other companies making replicas of his luggage. People would buy these replicas, accidently thinking it was the original Louis Vuitton, only to find out later, after carefully inspecting the luggage that it was indeed a fake. Louis Viutton started to put the LV onto the luggage, making it easier for people to know that they have an original and not a replica.

Eventually, Louis Vuitton began making handbags. The first handbag was created in the year 1888. It was called the damier canvas design. It was originally created to carry 5 champaign bottles at a time, but soon gained the popularity to be carried as an everyday handbag. Women everywhere were carrying around the damier canvas design and Louis Vuitton soon realized that he had a great hit with this new line of luggage. Right after this, Louis Vuitton began creating more and more handbags for everyday use.

Even today, companies still try to immitate and outsell the Lous Vuitton handbags, but to no avail. Louis Vuitton is still at the top of the handbag industry.

With its wonderful designs, certain to set the trend for any given year, and its quality craftmanship, Louis Vuitton handbags will be around for many years to come.

Beaded Purses: The True Fun Begins
Author: Alise Fiore
Purses are wonderful and beautiful. The most decorative extension of who we are and what we are wearing. A purse can tell someone how we feel, what we feel, and what we will feel. Beaded purses perhaps say that better than anything else. Beaded purses can be an oddity or they can be vintage. A beaded purse is usually a plain, normal purse that has been made colorful and spectacular by the use of specially placed beads of various colors and styles.

1. One popular beaded purse is a beaded coin purse. These tiny purses are perfect for a bit of change and a couple dollar bills. Not built for an exceptionally lot of weight, they are stylish and if you get adventurous you can carry a lipstick in one if hard pressed. These coin purses are usually inexpensive, but the beads make them adorable. They can come adorned with small animals and huge tigers.

2. Another popular beaded purse is the novelty-beaded purse. These novelty-beaded purses can come in any size. In addition, they can come in any number of styles, fashions, designs, the sky is the limit. My favorite novelty-beaded purses come in various shapes. A tiger purse will have the shape of a tiger's head and the tigers head is all beaded. There are all sort of animals you can use. In addition, there are some that are made purely for the fun of it. Some of these novelty purses have unusual designs on them such as flamingos or sailboats or rocket ships.

3. Designer handbags will often have beads on them as well. These beads can either be glass, crystal, or steel. Almost any solid material can be made into beads for handbags. Designer handbags use a lot of care in placing these beads and want to insure you that these beads will not come loose. All of the designers use beads at one time or another.

Beaded bags are simply the most fun you should be allowed to have with a purse. The beaded purses offer style and fun in one simple package. The price range of beaded bags starts at extremely low to dang near priceless. Beaded bags have been around for centuries. There are many beaded bags of every size in museums. That is how much beaded bags are loved by people around the world.

Of course, should you be feeling adventurous, you can make your own! Yes, you can do it if you try. There are patterns available that help people to create beaded bags that are the pride of joy of the creator. There are also ways you can create your very own design. Often, a simple way to begin is to create a simple cloth bag and then add appropriate beads in the appropriate places. Nothing is too little or too much for that beaded purse.

Beaded purses are collectible and although they may appear delicate, if you get a good brand of beaded bags, you will have a purse that will last for generations. Beads do discolor with time if you do not check for quality before hand. As with anything you purchase, do your research. Better to spend a little extra time now than lose a lot of money later. Do a quick search online for your intended purchase. Make sure you do not get taken for the fool.

Choosing A Perfect Designer Handbag
Author: Angle Tingen
There are of course many different kinds of handbag on the market, and choosing the perfect designer handbag is rarely an easy or a quick decision. Finding the right bag, however, is vital to achieving the look you are aiming for, and the right purse can make virtually any outfit look great.

Every woman of course understands the value of a great designer handbag, and a purse is much more than just a safe place to stash money and other valuables. The right designer handbag is as much a fashion statement as any other part of the outfit, and a great designer bag has a lot to say about the taste, style and sophistication of the wearer.

Of course when it comes to shopping for the perfect designer handbags it is important to exercise plenty of caution. The very fact that designer handbags are enjoying such popularity has also meant an increase in the number of fakes, and popular and expensive name brands like Brighton, Coach, Fendi and XOXO are among the most frequently copied.

Buying one of these cheap designer knockoffs is far more than just a waste of money, and it is all too easy to get taken. The materials used in the manufacture of cheap designer copies are usually substandard, and that means that the purse you buy will not be able to stand up to repeated use. A genuine designer handbag, on the other hand, should be able to last for many years of use, and this can make the genuine article a far better value in the long run.

There are a number of important things to look for when it comes to buying a fine designer purse or handbag. One of the most important things to look at is the quality of the fine details. Looking at these small details can tell you a lot about the quality and workmanship that went into the manufacture of the purse, so it pays to look beyond the designer name on the front of the bag.

For instance, the stitching around the seams of the handbag can tell you a great deal about whether or not it is the genuine article. While a genuine product from a fine company like Fendi or Coach will be of obviously high quality, stitching that appears to be uneven or inferior is often the first sign of a fake product. Likewise, the interior detailing will be elegant and classic on a genuine designer purse, but it may appear shoddy on a knockoff. It pays to look at these details carefully in order to make sure you are truly getting the best product for your money.

After all, there are many different designers of handbags these days, and each designer bag will have its own unique set of features. It is important to choose a bag that is not only stunning and beautiful, but practical and affordable as well. There are designer purses and handbags perfect for virtually any taste and budget, ranging from bags that cost only about $100 to ones so expensive only the wealthiest can afford them. It is important to shop carefully and to make sure the bag you want suits your budget as well as your unique taste.

Designer Handbags -- What Really Makes Them So Popular?
Author: Rufus Steele

There are many, many designer handbags available to own these days.

So what is it that makes one more famous or more popular than the other? What factor above all else determines whether or not a range is going to be a winner or a huge flop?

Well, design quality certainly has to play a big part in it.

I mean, who's going to buy a bag that looks as though it's about to fall to pieces? Worse still, what if it looks as though it has fallen to pieces as it sits on display in your local store?

How will you be able to keep a straight face as the suitably reverent sales assistant dons her white cotton gloves before handling the bag as though it were the winning lottery ticket -- (rare and highly valuable and more than likely to explode in your face than actually be real!)

Beyond the point of many handbag lovers thinking that a Hobo style bag meant it should look as though it's suitable only for a hobo to carry, build quality has to be good and durable to add credit to the designers name and assure the buyer that they are getting real value for their hard earned dollars.

The looks of the designer handbag also need to be right.

With the huge number of different people looking to buy a designer handbag, there is always going to be a huge difference in opinions as to what looks good and what doesn't.

What others like as a design or style, you might think has been dragged backwards through the proverbial hedge - having already been rejected by a pop art museum!

But it's this subjective link that gives each designer their strength! Their unique style and imagination can inspire people to pay a deposit to reserve the latest creation before they've even seen a picture of it.

Lovers of a specific designer label can spend hours and days trying to track down each bag released under a specific design, range or label even.

Take the Louis Vuitton Cherry Blossom range as an example.

Created by Takashi Murakami in conjunction with Marc Jacobs of LV, this range consisted of a retro handbag, a papillon and a pochette. Lovers of LV or Murakami would collect the "set". As the Cherry Blossom range came in three color combos -- chocolate/pink, red/cream, pink/pink -- people would also look to buy each color set as well.

The power of the design, coupled with the appeal of the name, encouraged them to buy!

If it's a really 'top notch' name like Hermes or Versace then you need to add your name to a wait list. This list can stretch to more than two years for certain bags.

Everybody ranks the different designers according to their budget -- assigning in their mind a scale to attain. The same as everyone looks to upgrade their home or car, designer handbag lovers always aspire to move into the next bracket of handbag.

But I think that the biggest means by which designer name handbags prosper and grow or fade away with a whimper is down to good old communication.

Work with me for a minute!

How many bags do you own?

Of those, how many are from the same house?

Now then -- of those from the same designer, the same design house label, how many did you buy after someone else had spoken to you about it?

It can be anything from a simple comment that someone dropped in a conversation, to a friend specifically emailing you to tell you about the super dooper new XXX from the house of XXXX!

Now work backwards.

How many handbags do you own that you wouldn't have bought unless someone communicated about it to you?

1? 5? 10?

That communication has helped the designer sell more of his handbags than he would have normally, which in turn helps to build up his reputation and the strength of his name!

Design houses can (and often do!) throw as much money as they like into their advertising and marketing campaigns. The latest rake thin super model graces pages and posters, clutching the latest Hackyunaki hobenger bag to their bosom and beaming insanely!

"I'm beautiful only because I hold a Hackyunaki bag" they seem to say to you.

But if the people who buy and use their products don't talk about them in glowing terms, if they don't love them SOOOO much that they have to tell all their friends abut them, they'll never become a success in the world of designer handbags.

So the answer to the riddle of what makes a particular designer handbag a success is -- you!

You make designer name handbags popular and a success as much as you have the power to make them a failure, never to waste store space again!

Just by loving them and talking about them!

Spring into Style
Author: Bag Lady
Spring is simply my favorite time of the year. Every year, around this time, the major fashion houses in the world release their new designs to the hungry masses. This season is certainly no exception, and some of the bags I have seen so far are simply amazing! We all have certain designers that we have grown to love and trust, but some of the new players out there have really impressed me this year. If you love purses and handbags the way I do, check out some of these new releases.

I have always been in love with Prada handbags. In fact, it was Prada that first inspired my love affair with purses. To be perfectly honest, I have never seen a Prada bag that I didn't love. This year they have impressed me to no end. Words cannot describe the feeling I get when I see this bag. I am talking about the new Prada/Jute Snakeskin Hobo. For those you that love a bit of glitz and glamour, you will absolutely adore the gold snakeskin accents. The tan leather trim really helps neutralize the flashiness of the gold, and the simple beige weaved jute brings it a real sense of balance. The Prada logo is nicely located in the middle of the front side, beautifully mounted on a small wooden plate. Absolutely stunning!

Fendi is another one of those designers I cannot be without. While some of their purses are less-than-remarkable, certain others are nothing short of phenomenal. I have been raving about the Fendi Spy to all of my friends, and now I share this little secret with you. These might be difficult to find, as women everywhere are going mad over them. They have a few different purses available in this line, but the one I truly lust over is the Fendi Floral Spy Satchel. It is oh-so-cute! This bag has a wonderfully intricate floral appliqué on the front side, and the leather is as white as pure driven snow. Be still my beating heart!

Isabella Fiore has created what might be the cutest springtime bag ever! Has anyone out there had the pleasure of holding the new April Woven Bag? If you haven't, I suggest you stop what you are doing and go find one. If you have, please wipe that drool from your mouth. It's gross. The handles on this bag are constructed from the finest braided brown leather, and the flowers painted on the side are the stuff dreams are made of. Ooo la la! It has a magnetic closure, and a wonderfully durable canvas liner. I want to buy all of them up, so you can't have one. Happy springtime shopping, ladies!

That's my bag, baby!
Author: Bag Lady
Greetings and salutations, my loyal readers! Let me tell you a little story. I was out shopping with some friends last week (surprise, surprise) and I had the strangest altercation. My friends and I were at Sak's 5th Ave. to check out the latest designer handbags, and we are all raving over this incredible new purse from Coach. If you have read any of my previous work, you would know that I am Coach's biggest fan!

It was a beautiful purse! It had incredible vintage styling, and was constructed from the finest, most supple caramel-colored leather. I was literally drooling over this purse, as were my fellow shoppers. As I was inspecting the bag and admiring the awesome multi-colored liner, I could sense that somebody was peering over my shoulder. I turned around to discover another woman lusting after the very handbag I had in my hands.

At this point, I was both annoyed and afraid. I was annoyed by having a stranger invade my personal space, and scared by the crazed and maniacal look in her eyes. This woman looked like a junkie waiting for her next fix! In the past, I have written about my struggle with being a designer handbag junkie. It was, however, all in good humor and I did employ a certain amount of creative embellishment.

This woman, on the other hand, looked like she was about to attack me! I couldn't believe it. Fortunately, I had some friends with me. Otherwise, I suspect we may have had a catfight on our hands. Needless to say, I made a hasty escape with my new coach handbag. Later that evening, I sat down at my computer to write some new copy for the site and I had a really hard time forgetting about this woman. It got me thinking about the bigger picture, with regards to high end consumer items like designer fashion accessories.

Why are people so strangely obsessed with trivial items? Why do we place such value on inanimate objects? I am generally not one to consider designer handbags and fashion accessories trivial, because I am absolutely in love with them. But in the bigger picture that is reality, these are not important matters. Handbags are simply something I am interested in, and write about for my website. Sure, I have more bags than I could ever possibly put to use. But I am far from being fanatical about them! Well…most of the time.

Rent-a-bag…the hottest new trend
Author: Bag Lady
I was surfing the net the other day, and came across an article that left me flabbergasted. As you all likely know by now, I am a designer handbag fanatic. There have been months where I have seriously considered bouncing my rent check in order to buy a purse I simply could not do without. Who am I kidding? I have bounced my rent to buy a new handbag! And I would likely do it again.

Well, it appears that my dilemma has come to an end. I was surfing the net the other day, and came across an interesting article. It was about the burgeoning industry of designer handbag rentals! Now I have heard of luxury car rentals and even designer wedding dress rentals, but I never imagined a day when I could rent the latest Chanel purse. Can you picture yourself going into Blockbuster Handbags and renting the purse you have been saving your money for? I know I can!

There is a company called Bag Borrow or Steal that, as far as I can tell, is the first of a kind. They have a wonderful website, and a business model like no other. It is very similar to Netflix or something to that effect, but you rent handbags instead of the latest DVD. Somewhat similar to renting videos, you pay annual subscription fee and you are given access to a collection of beautiful handbags to use on a temporary basis. The type of bag you are allowed to borrow is determined by your membership level. Memberships range from $19.95 to $174.95 per year. You can keep the bag for as long as you like, but it must remain in the condition you received it in. I wonder if they have an insurance plan.

After doing some research, I discovered another company that is offering something similar. They are called From Bags to Riches, and their service are slight different from the company mentioned above. Instead of charging an annual membership fee, this company allows you to rent on a weekly or monthly basis. The price of the rental is determined by the duration and type of bag you want to rent. This site organizes their collections by brand name, and monthly rentals range from $$19.90 to $79.80. They also offer their customers the option to purchase their rented purse, if they cannot bring themselves to return it. They know me so well, don't they?

Authentic or Replica - Which Handbag is Right for You?
Author: Deanna Key

Real or fake? This question is asked of a lot of things: paintings, jewelry, bosoms and yes, handbags. Whether your Louis Vuitton is real or fake is your business, isn't it?

Well, yes and no. Obviously, if your LV is real, you will probably eagerly correct anyone that hints that it is not. After all, you paid good money for the bag, and might even be appalled that someone would assume it is a replica.

On the other hand, if your bag were a replica, would you really tell people that it is a fake? Would you tell them by purchasing a replica, instead of the real thing, that you knowingly took money away from the designers that created the real bag? Would you mention that the money you spent for the bag possibly went to terrorist organizations. Or that the manufactures of your fake bag could have used their handbag business to transport thousands of dollars worth of cocaine into the country? I doubt you would mention any of these things to an inquisitive acquaintance.

I know it sounds harsh, but knowingly buying a replica bag is wrong. (Note: buying replica handbags is not illegal but selling them is.)

Designers like Gucci, Kate Spade, Chanel and Hermes charge so much for their product because they are highly sought after and they are made from quality materials. Many bags by these designers are made by hand. Also, these designers spend millions on advertising, customer care, quality assurance and customs. By buying a replica, you are taking directly from these designers.

Buying replicas also takes from the US economy. Companies that sell replica handbags often do so as cash based, tax free business. If you have bought a replica handbag before, think back, did you pay tax for on the purchase. Probably not.

We all know that authentic designer handbags are pricey, but that doesn't mean you should buy a knock-off. Just because something is out of your price range is no reason to rip off the company that manufactures the product.

Real or replica…which is right for you? I don't really see you have a choice. Always buy real.

Is your Authentic Designer Handbag Really Authentic?
Author: Deanna Key

So, you have just bought a new designer handbag. Maybe you have had your eye on a Christian Dior Saddle Handbag, or Gucci Jackie-O that you know your friends will drool over . You got a huge discount off of the hefty retail price and you're feeling pretty good about yourself. But know you are wondering- is my designer handbag authentic.

Determining the authenticity on any product can be a little tricky, but if you know the basics, you will be able to spot a fake in just a few seconds.

One of the best ways to ensure your new handbag is authentic is to look at the bag itself. Designer handbags are popular and cost as much as they due because first and for-most they are made from quality materials. Take a good look at the stitching. There should be no loose or missing stitches, the color of the thread should match the main color of the bag and the stitches should be evenly spaced. If the handbag is leather, the logo should be engraved, not just printed on the leather.

Also take a look at the hardware. All of the hardware should match in color and sheen. The hardware should also be free of scratches. Many manufactures, including Gucci, Fendi and Prada, protect their hardware with a removable plastic cover that is to be removed only after it has been purchased. The brand name or logo should be engraved, not embossed or simply printed on the hardware. You can also find the brand name of logo engraved on the strap hardware on Gucci, Fendi, Prada, Chanel and

Inspect the material the bag; lining, hardware and accents are made of. Many handbags are made of different types of leather, from Lambskin, Calfskin, Goatskin and Patent Leather, but it is easy to distinguish if the leather is of a good quality or not. The lining is usually made of a satin material that has a nice shine to it and most designer handbags have the name brand name or logo on the lining. Designers almost always use leather accents, not plastic. Some purses have straps that are specially coated and seem to be artificial. However a quick look at the edge of the strap, usually near a stitched joint, should reveal a leather core.

Is there an authenticity card. An authenticity card is a little card that usually has the manufactures logo embossed on the front and has some information about the product you purchased and sometimes includes a magnetic strip, bar code. Many manufacturers, including Gucci, Prada, Fendi, Kate Spade and Coach, use these cards.

Check for a serial number. Not all manufacturers use serial numbers, but many do. The serial number for Fendi purses can be found on the inside pocket. Simply turn the pocket inside out and there will be a printed number on the fabric or possibly on the leather tag. Gucci includes a small leather tag on the zipper seam of the handbag which includes a serial number.

If you shop wisely, and inspect the bag carefully, you will be able to spot a fake from a mile away.

Vintage Desinger Handbag-Is it Vintage or Just Plain Used
Author: Deanna Key

Vintage bags are new again. Just look around, they are everywhere. They were the talk of the fashion industry when many 'A list' celebrities were seen toting vintage handbags, gowns and accessories at this years Emmy Awards.

Buying vintage handbags is a great way to broaden your handbag collection. There are thousands to choose from and can sometimes be bought for pennies on the dollar. But when is a vintage handbag right for you, and what makes a bag vintage and not just used?

You will need to determine if the new handbag you are in the market for will be used frequently or are you more interested in the bag as a collectable. There is no harm in wanting to use a vintage handbag, how else are you and your impeccable sense of fashion going to be the topic at this years Christmas party, but it is important to buy a bag that will hold up to the challenge. So make sure you follow some simple guidelines when purchasing your new vintage handbag.

Only buy from a reputable dealer. Many of your questions can be answered and your worries set to ease when you know the dealer has done their homework and has a reputation of being honest and fair.

Obviously, anything that you use often must be made to last. Do not buy a handbag that is worn or stained more then a little. Some 'wear and tear' can add mystique, but too much damage only looks used. Handbags can be restored and repaired, but it is highly unlikely you would want to go to all the trouble of having a handbag repaired, only to use it on a daily basis. Also, although most people would not be able to tell the bag had been repaired, repairing a bag greatly decreases it open market value.

Understand what you are paying for. Vintage handbags are given value not only for their popularity of past and current times, but also for workmanship. This can include things such as the clasping mechanism. Your biggest concern might be that the handbag close properly, but you could pay top price because the bag you are eyeing happens to have the first magnetic closure ever used on a designer bag. If you happen to find these types of things interesting then this is the bag for you. But if you are more interested in the appearance of a handbag, you might not want to pay this much for a piece of ingenuity and history.

Prices for vintage designer handbags can range from less then a hundred to several thousand. The price depends on condition, uniqueness, design, rarity, condition, adornments (beading), the material from which the bag is made and age.

When shopping online for vintage designer handbags, try using different search words: purse, handbags, vintage purses, vintage designer handbags, clutch purses, lunch box purses, cigar box purses and so on. Also look for an online boutique that offers great detail on the items they sell. A good description of the bag, estimated age and a full list of any flaws should be provided. It is essential that the retailer offer a money back guarantee.

A vintage handbag is right for you if you want genuine GUCCI or Hermes leather bag at a great price and couldn't afford one new. Nobody has to know that it is vintage, but everyone will be wondering where you got it.

With the urban rich adopting the attitude, "have money – will spend," premium luxury brands are making a beeline for the high-end segment. Ladies are increasingly investing in fashion accessories, particularly designer handbags.
With an increase in disposable income, the potential is enormous. The biggest draw, though, is what the industry terms the image factor. Brand image has different connotations for different people. For young, it's being "in"; for the upper middle-class segment, it's creating pockets of wealth in their lives; and for the affluent, it's an assertion of their class.
"When we establish a physical presence in any country, our target is long-term success, and not immediate returns; but we usually develop a strong customer base within a short time," comments Prasanna Bhaskar, Retail Manager, Louis Vuitton. "About 300 Suhali Goat Leather Handbags priced at $2,893.96 were dispatched to a burgeoning market like India, but it turned out to be a gross underestimate of the demand; the entire collection sold out within two months." Bhaskar attributes this to the desire to associate with a well-known, high-end brand.
Another hot seller is a Marc Jacobs Quilted Venetia handbag in vintage-inspired quilted leather. Priced at $1,200.00, the leather is complemented by brass hardware and luxe-suede interiors. The young at heart are snapping up Marc Jacobs Quilted Denim Large Hobo Banana priced at $875.00. Everything about this Italian hobo, from the chunky brass straps to the slant zip pockets, makes it irresistible; the quilted denim is teamed with topstitched leather and signature hardware. Prada Lock Tote is in demand, too, and is characterized by antique leather trim, front flap, signature lock closure, and magnetic-snap front pockets.
